Well, from the very limited experience I ahve of reading about people who have survived an attack, I seem to remember them talking about it clamping on their heads and trying to crush the skull, which I'm pretty certain it is more than capable of, so I reckon it would just squash your head first(hopefully), and then eat the rest. Mind you, if it bit into you, you wouldn't feel much from the adrenilin, and would pass out from shock and blood loss pretty quickly anyway I would think. Well, that has completely put me off my lasagne, thanks! lol.

Don't know if you heard of the documentary "Grizzly Man" - about a conservationist called Timothy Treadwell. HE and his partner were attacked and killed by bears and an audio tape exists of this.
He was heard to say "Get out here. I'm getting killed", so for your curiosity, the chances of being conscious would be quite high....
Shudder.....!

Your brain has a way of shutting out terrorizing things. So many trauma victims can remember before and after but not the actual moment. Either way it would be awful. Now comes the real question...why is your mind going to such dark places? Try and relax and think of something nice...you'll feel much better overall.

In an extended "attack", grizzlies tend to gnaw on the head first, usually, knowing that you resist less if they gnaw there first. The skull is crushed and shattered and the brain is damaged beyond consciousness. If you're screaming, they don't really eat right away. They wait until you stop screaming.

In the (thankfully) unlikely event of that happening, keep fighting! Struggle, yell, kick, gouge anything you can - most animals will not want to eat a struggling animal, so if you're done for anyway, at least make it as painless as possible by making the damn thing kill you outright!

It wouldn't be very likely that you would be conscious when a bear eats you as it would see you as pray so good news there it would simply maul you to death. Your best bet would be to play dead and it wouldn't see you as a threat.

Quite good, I've taught myself to fight unconciousness, although in this situation I'd prefer to be out of it!
