It takes a lot of time, support, sponsorship, initiative etc to build up a sport to a competitive level when it isn't a countries leading sport. It doesn't happen overnight, irrespective of the country or the sport. If the interest is there among players and more importantly fans and supporters improvement will come eventually.

Depends on what you mean by Indians. The NFL used to have a team called the Oorang Indians; they only lasted a year or two, but they had to have had at least a bit of talent.

If you're referring to India, I always thought they did well in football, but sucked at cricket.

Because they play cricket, and probably dont have the soccer skills, wheras they have the cricket skills!
