Batman.
Superman is a product of cold-war thinking, entirely us vs. them. He is a terribly thought-out character. If you are the fastest in your group of friends, you can pretend to be The Flash. If you are the strongest, you can pretend to be The Hulk. If you are the angirest, you can pretend to be Wolverine. If you're the coolest, Blade. But there is no combination of triats which you could possess that would make you like Superman. He is indestructable, he wins every fight (except for two, to my knowledge) and there is never any tension in his comics or movies. Therefore; he is boring. Boring, boring character.
With Bats on the other hand, you never know how it's going to turn out. He's just a guy in a costume. He could be killed at any moment. There is tension, suspense, even worry with Batman. And, every now and then, he just goes completely insane and beats the crap out of everybody (including Superman cf: The Dark Knight Returns).
Oddly enough, Batman is my favourite comic book character ever and Superman is my least favourite. In fact, I would go as far as to say the I hate Superman.

As much as I hate to say it..Superman, and the reasoning is simple superpowers vs. gadgets.
Batman has the war won from a gadget stand point and as the "coolest", he's got a better car...ok he has a car period and his costume is top notch even back in the Adam West Televison days of Batman his costume remained gay without being completely homo sexual.
Batman has the women compaired to the monogomist Superman (although I do see a "close" bond with Jimmy Olsen). Gothom vs. Metropolis....please. Batcave/Wayne Mannor vs. What...Clark Kent's single bedroom digs on the upper east side of Metropolis.
Overall Batman wins hands down...

Superman. He actually has powers. Batman uses gadgets and stunt moves. Superman can fly, has heat vision, ultra strength and can beat up batman probably very quickly.
