Most cars' air conditioning systems work with fluids, and especially the heating system, which utilizes the same liquid from the radiator running via the engine. These fluids may have frozen which might be the cause of the problem. However it sounds more like an electrical problem in your Sonata's case, which may have been caused by electrical wires getting brittle due to the sudden drop in temperatures. Have this checked first by a reputable auto-electrician, before anything else. If the fault doesn't lie with the wiring, the autolecs will probably suggest other avenues to follow.

does the blower fan still work? are you at least getting cold air coming out of the vents? If yes, that's kinda good, it eliminates a lot of things. If not, you need to see why the fan isnt working. could be fuse or relay.

make sure the engine is at operating temperature and try the heat then. your antifreeze level might not be potent enough and the antifreeze could be freezing, if so get that adjusted. check your hoses, make sure nothing is soft or pudgy, or cracked.
if all else fails, your heater control valve might be jammed up.

if your blowing cold air and fan works then I would check the level of antifreeze in radiator or check for pluggage around the control valve for the water circulation. If the fan is not working either then I would get owners manual and try to find the fuse for it. If it is a digital control on high end luxury car ...dealership for repairs sorry

Look for a fuse first, then if not it's probably under warranty.
