I heard it`s 5,5 dollars... If this is true, how can anyone survive on that?

It's currently 5.15/hour, but they plan on changing it soon. That's nice, but we have freedom of speech, religion, sexual preference, and our currency is worth more.

It depends on the state, actually. In my home state (Washington), minimum wage was almost $8 an hour when I left, which was a little over two years ago.
In Oklahoma, minimum wage is about $6 an hour.
The thing with minimum wage is that in states where the minimum wage is less (like Oklahoma), is that the living expenses are considerably less.
You guys use the kroner, is that correct? The exchange rate last year was about 6.1 kroner to one American dollar. So your employees receive wages of 150 kroner an hour? Are you sure?

The difference is that 1 US Dollar = 6.19303 Norwegian Kroner. So the minimum wage here in the US is 31.89 Kroner/hour. I am sure the cost of living is different there also.

The federal minimum wage for covered, nonexempt employees is $5.15 per hour. Many states also have minimum wage laws. In cases where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two minimum wages.

Most companies do not start the employees on Minimum wage especially if they have experiences vital to the work force. Socialize system is nothing to be proud of. I have traveled so I know. Our life and standard of living in the U.S is way much better compared to the rest of the world. We have our own problems but who hasn't?

It is currently $5.15 an hour federally, however most if not all states have adopted higher minimum wages. In my state (Hawaii) the minimum wage was just raised from $6.75 to $7.25.

$5.15...hopefully, Bush will approve raising it to $7.25, over a two year period. He will make an attachment which would give tax breaks to businesses to pay for the increase. It's the first increase that would occur in 10 years. (Disgraceful)
