I have a new puppy who is being house trained as we speak. However, her little accidents on my carpet have been cleaned with 1001 carpet stain remover - this in turn has left light marks on the carpet. So I was thinking when she has finshed house training I will clean the carpet with carpet shampoo and hire a machine to do this. However, I have wood parquet flooring underneath the carpet that I don't want to ruin. I am worried it will be ruined by the carpet shampoo. Has anyone got any experience in this?

if at all possible,
get a good sealant cleaner ,onto your parquet floor to prevent staining from those little accidents .

As stated earlier , there is very little likelihood of staining,
because of the carpet cleaning machine .
This leaves very little fluid ,to soak through.

Carpet shampoo is very sophisticated these days , so you should have very little trouble, from cleaning with a good machine ..

If the parquet , is already hopelessly stained ,
consider, getting it sanded and re polished, at a later date .
This will give you, the original pristine parquet floor back .

I hope this helps

It should be OK provided you use a proper carpet cleaning machine - and wet and dry as you go - the water will be pushed into the carpet and sucked almost straight back out again!

Best option is to make up a spray bottle of the solution and spray the carpet first - until just damp - then use the cleaner to pull the moisture out!

Make a mistake and put too much water down and you can guarantee that it will soak thru into the wood and damage/warp/stain it!

I once had this problem. When my dog had become fully housetrained I decided to get a new carpet. When the old carpet was removed I found patches on the parquet which had been changed in colour due to the pee. I tried to stain them, but it was'nt very successful.

Watch out even the little accidents could muck up the flooring.
Lift the carpet put down an absorbent backing like you would underneath wooden flooring and then put the carpet back down.

As soon as you can, lift the carpet, put polythene dust sheet on floor, then clean your carpet, no problems.....
