I just wanted to know does anyone believe that we should support the death penalty against war crimnals or should we oppose it? Whichever you agree with can you tell me why you chose that side

The death penalty needs to remain an option. Trials for the criminals as has been the rule needs to remain as well. Public understanding of what a war crime is is also essential. If you get into a fierce fire fight innocent casualties happen and this is NOT a crime. Going off with the intent to get laid and blowing the family away, that is a war crime.

That's why the Bush administration is opposed to the judgment of the international court in Brussels. We used it very effectively after WWII in Nuremburg to punish Nazi criminals, and in Tokyo for Tojo & his gang. Also, US troops are not subject to the jurisdiction of the court. If we do not subject ourselves to equal judgment under the law because of whatever reasons given, then we shouldn't use the court as we did in the past. That is why we are having military tribunals for the first time since the Civil War. so we can establish our own international justice system, US-style for foreign priisoners. Some have been held for 5 years without charge, or even without the rights to an attorney. I do not think war criminals should be put to death. I believe in life imprisonment. They will be subjected to the judgment of God. For me, that's the ultimate judge and jury.

War it self is a crime against humanity, the war criminal trials have gone some what overboard a solider follows orders it should be the man who gives the orders on trial and yes death
