When he was a captain, he seemed to have strong views on the selection which some of the selectors didn't like. He didn't mingle well with coach too at that time. He is a tough person to be handled by everyone and used to pass distasteful remarks against anyone that he didn't like. Even John Wright had complaints against him. There seemed to be a bond between him and Dalmia. And he was not performing and his strike rate was pathetic when he was taken out of the team. To offset it, he was creating a favorite partition in the team to support him when needed.

Eventually, they didn't have anyonelse than Dravid. He is technically correct in his decisions but may be lacking the 'human touch' in dealing with the people.

It would look awkward to appoint Ganguly as a captain immediately after his return. It would demoralize Dravid who has been doing a fair job both as captain and as a batsman. Mind you, there aren't many Indian captains that did a fair job both as captain and a player.

If Ganguly continues his consistency, he may be given a chance again as captain. But it's too early to make him the captain.

There are no politics or nothing as some people see it in short sight. It's plain performance and attitude issue.

After exit of Saurav Ganguly from the Captain of Indian Team, Rahul Dravid was appointed as Captain. He has been doing fairly well as a Captain. Hence the need for changing the captain did not arise. If the captaincy was changed when the world cup is round the corner, it will not only adversely affect the morale or not only Dravid, but the unity of entire team.

There is a word 'Captain' in Vice Captain isn't it? What more could you ask for.

Ganguly is the Vice Captain. In case you make Ganguly the Captain then we will have to answer one more question as to Why Dravid is not the Captain for WC.

1) He's just come back in the team, he's got to prove himself first.
2) Dravid is doing quite well.
3) Chappel and the selectors don't really like him.
4) He'll bat better if he's got nothing else to concentrate on.
5) Can't take chances with his form just before the World Cup.
