Crusaders were exposed to new religious ideas, to new goods, and to new ways of thinking.

Muslims use prayer beads. After the Crusades, Catholics developed the prayer beads known as the rosary.

The concept of a crusade, and the term are still used today.

When Europeans became aware of the cloth, spices, and other goods available in the Middle East, they tried to find ways to get into the market. The Italians dominated the trade across the Mediterranean Sea. Their Portuguese rivals decided to sail around Africa to get to the East. Their Spanish rivals chose to sail west in order to get to the East, accidentally bumping into America.

lots of the thoughts (yet no longer all) that the Europeans picked up from the Muslims were actual eu thoughts that Europe had forgotten. The works of the likes of Aristotle were rediscovered.
