Me and my wife don't celebrate Valentine's Day because a) it's a pile of crap and b) Valentine was a mass murderer.

Anyway, we went to the movies last night (Hot Fuzz - excellent flick) and then decided to go to our local for a post-movie drink. This is something we do on a regular basis.

Here's the thing, our local is a dump. It's a crappy pub. I love it, but it's still crappy. I couldn't help but laugh at the dismal attempts they'd made to make it look romantic.

But what REALLY made me laugh is that one guy had actually brought his girlfriend to this dump AS A VALENTINE'S TREAT. THIS WAS THE BEST IDEA HE COULD COME UP WITH.

If your boyfriend took you to a dump of a pub for Valentine's day, would you be happy, or would you be happier with what I did and not made any effort at all?

I'm a simple girl... I'd rather have a good memory of a bad pub than a bad memory of a good one.

Valentines day is an evil scam, developed by women and the chocolate and flower companies of the world, to drain men of their hard earned money and to make them feel guilty if they didn't!! It is a conspiracy I say, A conspiracy and No Man can escape it!!!!

*PROOF* I got my wife a dozen roses, some Ghirardelli chocolate and wrote her a letter, we also went out to a fancy dinner and then ice cream on Saturday

If i Took her to my favorite dive, I would bleed, most certainly!!

well, mm honestly i would be slowly dying inside but would put on a crazily happy smile on for a while at least. but since i'm irish and all (temper temper), i'm guessing it wouldn't be long before i start shouting, laughing or obviously drinking.
but then it's the thought that counts, right??? *nervous grin*

I'd be happier with what you did...there's something about that one familiar place that just doesn't compare to anything that might be a "treat" whether it's crappy or not...

Some dives are better than high end clubs.

for me dates are not important as long as you trust each other it's enough for me, but with that situation, I'd rather stay home...
