Indian subcontinent is the only place on Earth where six women became the heads of the country in past fifty years. If you call it discrimination, it will always be there. Indian girls will always keep a special status.

Do some research on the pay gaps, you will see discrimination, and you will see it to its fullest extent. Yeah, sure Indira Gandhi may have been the prime minister, but I guarantee that her pay was far less than what the men would earn. Look at what the Bollywood stars earn. I was shocked to see the men earning twice as much even though they are really crap actors (sorry). But discrimination exists, and it exists everywhere not just in India. A few years ago I read an article about 50,000 girls going missing, I want to know what happens to them. What is wrong with people!

NO
In India we may have had many great leaders who were women and still have many women leaders, but the discrimination is still there.
There is female infanticide
Girl child is not given the same education as the male child.
Girl child is not given the same food as the male child.
Girl child's education is sacrificed to take care of her younger sibling.
Girl is looked upon as a burden by her parents because they have to give dowry.
Girl is supposed to adjust to all the relatives of the boy after marriage but the boy does not even adjust to his wife.
Girl does not a share in the ancestral property in many states of India.
Girl has to give up her career after marriage.
Girl cannot perform the last rites of her parents in many states.

The discrimination will stop when the above are removed and the girl and the boy child will be treated the same in every family.

Stopped?. What exactly you meant?.

Indira Gandhi was a prime minister of India for many years. If discrimation was there, it wouldn't have been possible. I can tell more than 25 famous women in India. Can you tell the same in the US?. When are you going to have your women representative being the world's No. 1 country? Why are you far behind countries like India, Sri Lanka and even Pakistan that had women leaders already?

If you are talking about what happens here and there, it's there everywhere including the so-called developed countries. 'Rapes' and 'molestations' are more in number in those countries than elsewhere. Is it not a result of discrimination?.

There is no discrimination against girls. Religious fundamentalists are the one who discriminate anything.
