I want to program a website in such a way that users can send SMS to other users thru the website. Is there any API out there to accomplish this? If not, any ideas on how to go about this?

It is possible to send SMS to mobiles from your site .The technique is same as sending E-mail from your site .Your page will connect with your mail server first and then look for mobile service provider's mail server . The address of mobile would be in number format and most important thing is you should know whether mobile service providers provide facility of receiving Messeges from internet.
