I was in the post office today, there were only 2 customers and two staff and we got on to the suject of taxes, 4 out of 4 said that they were sick and tired of being taxed to the hilt and being told that we have never had it so good when the reality is far from the truth. One of the staff was having to do overtime to cover for holidays and she mentioned that the only people that would benefit was the government because of the extra tax, we all concluded that they should just keep all our cash and dole out a tenner to spend each week, any coments?

Not tired or disillusioned, just very angry!!

it could be much worse, our entire government could be made up of jennifer granholms(michigans governor), where the people collectively can vote down taxes and within a matter of a couple of months she finds a loop and we get hit with the tax anyway. Example: the tobacco tax was voted down in the state election (we'd just got hit with a back to back tax increase on tobacco including a sin tax affectin alcohol, tobacco and hotel stays to fund the casino's, casinos do not need funding) she found a loop and we got hit for another 7.50 per carton. and when we as a people of the state had more than enough signatures to put marijauna legalization(up to 3 ounces and up to 3 mature plants) on the november ballot, for some reason it never was printed up on the ballot. just another way for the people to speak and not be heard. yet she claimed to have balanced the budget prior to the election and we're 800,000,000.00 in debt. go figure, with leadership like this no wonder our unemployment rate is so high and the people are leaving michigan for other states and jobs/work.
WOULD THE LAST PERSON OUTTA MICHIGAN TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!!!!

I would agree that the collective nation is tired and disillusioned, but it has little to do with taxes. Compared to most other countries, our tax rate is much lower. The problem is that many of our costs have gone up, while income has lagged behind. Some of the costs are college tuition (up 40% in 5 years), medical care/insurance, gasoline and home prices/rent.

Further, many people are very disillusioned due to the domestic and foreign policy of our government. Because I believe he can make a difference, I will plug Barack Obama here. I recently read his book, and while I can't say I agree with all of his ideas, most of them are very good. In addition, he is well spoken, intelligent and has charisma. He seems like the type of person who could get people excited about being American again. And perhaps best of all, he is a living example of the American dream.

It's difficult to work hard but feel you are getting nowhere financially. Partner and I both have good jobs, small mortgage, but still struggle to afford a holiday or a night out.

Everything is so expensive in Britain. £40 for a concert ticket. £59 for a good hairdo (just paid this yesterday). Costs have risen and wages haven't kept pace. Every week in the supermarket our food bill is higher. Petrol is astronomical. We're being bled dry by big business.

I get tired of working so hard just to cover bills and disillusioned that that's just the way life is.

yes, you are so wrong..this still is the greatest country in the world and if people would get off there duff you would see the wonderful opertunities in this country. I just retired but i am more busy now with my wife as we both retired at the same time but now we are busier then ever doing what we want to do. We work as Nurses Aides for Hospice and the Respite//Home Care for the elderly who don't want to go to nursing homes. Talk to these people and you will hear what they had to go through and you will be glad to pay those taxes and do the work you are doing. Thank God for your good health and thank God you live in such a country as this for this is the land of milk and honey. Check it out...travel and look around...you will see more people buting a gut to get into this country and few people are leaving.

Happy Days Are Here Again! Let's vote for Bush AGAIN! jeeeeze . . .how can people be so gullible? Maybe when we've suffered enough, we'll learn not to be so stupid as to sell out our way of life, our nation, and our children's future for that $325 "vote" bribe that so many of you fell for hook, line and sinker. Oh, and let's not forget pappy's 10,000 "points of light". Can't you just feel all that "warmth" and "generosity" coming from the Republicans/Conservatives? LOL

It's going to get worse before it gets better. The middle class is being systematically eliminated. It is a class war at the highest parts of government. Poor people are easier to control, don't you know. That's the New world order for you. glad to see people are waking up.

I agree completely. We are all trying to make something out of the little we have. Eventually when we know there is no end we have no other choice but to get used to it.

Yes, I think we are. What's the point in working when so much of your wage packet is going to the government? I work but when I receive my payslip I don't know why I bother.
