What do people think about drummers. Personal, and their role in the band.

Heart and soul! They provide the rhythm and it is amazing to watch a truly great drummer really go for it in a drum solo. I don't like the totally indulgent bangdiddybangbang but a good rhythmic rock out is great. Drummers rule. Generally I find them to be either the best looking or worst looking in a group, not much middle ground, lol! I loved watching Franz Ferdinand when they had two guys come out to play with the drummer on the same set of drums, all bashing it out, great work. (My dad's occupation on my birth certificate is musician/drummer!)

Drummers are always hyper dudes. They have tons of energy. Sometimes they die tragically (Spinal Tap)
Drummers are always either the cute one or the ugly one, never in between.
The Drums are the driving force of the band. Bands without drums tend to suck pretty bad (see rap and synth or new wave rock). Real drums are better than "click" drums. The drummer, sometimes is the most talented member of the band. The unsung hero.

i love rock music, and well good drummers are freaking awesome. i like attention too much to sit behind a kit like them. they have to work hard back there banging drums even when a song sucks or the other musicians suck. a lot of people say "if you have a great drummer, you have a great band." a lot of us appreciate a good drummer, and of course it makes a big difference live.

Always late, wild/crazy, quick tempered, the badass, drums are never loud enough in the mix, do everything to excess, passionate, funny.
