i am 40 wks and 1day pregnant and for the third time in the last week experienced a night of regular contractions which dwindled to nothing the following day.this is my fourth child and ive never had this before, im nearly pulling my hair out with the frustration. its very difficult to ignore the contractions as another false alarm as each time i think it may be the real thing, is this a sign of any complications, and any advice on how to get through these sporadic bouts of labour would be much appreciated

if you're homw, i'd advise that you chekc yourself in to the hospital. it will be safer for you and less stressful for the people that have to rush you to the hospital. they might get frustrated and won't take you seriously when the real thing happens. besides, you're already very close to your due date so i'd think the close you are to medical personnel, the safer it is for you

YES!!!
I had pre-labour for about the last 3 weeks with #3 before I finally begged to be induced. Likely the contractions are dilating you a little at a time or at the very least preparing your cervix. Oddly when I was in labour, my early contractions felt pretty much the same as the braxton hicks but quickly took on a completely different sensation.
Good luck, it's such a painstaking process sometimes

How strange, i was gonna ask a similar question. I am 37 weeks +5 days and been have regular contractions since Monday (lost my mucus plug on Sunday) only for them to disappear by morning.. This is my 2ND baby. It has occured to me that maybe there is a problem but i dont really think so. I just think my body wants baby out now but baby doesn't want to come and keeps resisting the onset of real labour.. Last night i was sure it was starting and could not sleep till 3 this morning then finally slept only to wake and... nothing! I know how your feeling.. I am so frustrated i want to cry.. Hope it happens soon for you, as me. Good luck. x
