Why and why not?

Bonus points for a justifiable argument on how they can win the NBA Championship... ( i think beating the western conference champ 4 games out of 7 will be near impossible)

Yesterday, I was watching commentators before the Raptors/Nets games and they said the Raptors were a legitimate contendent team for the East title.

First of all, Bosh. He's consider as one of the best foward of the East, if not THE best.
I agree. Bosh is a really talented player who keeps on improving his game. He's not even at his max yet and he still manages to stay among the best.

Second of all, Bargnani. That guy can make serious damages to an opponent. He can also shoot the 3 point.

Third of all, their overall offense. The Raptors, at the image of the Suns in the West, are a real team with team players. No Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Lebron James or Tracy McGrady to steal the show.
Every player has something the others don't have and exploit that to the max.
Yesterday, out of 9 players who played, 7 of them scored in double-figure. EVERYBODY contributes.
And, the Raptors can outscore you. They're not scared to let you make points, they'll outscore you.

How can they win the whole NBA Championship... Personally, I don't think it's possible yet. Too much young players and no playoffs experience. Think in 2 to 5 years and you'll have a serious contender.

The Raptors need to tighten their defense up. It's their big problem right now since their offense is already there.

To win the NBA championship, the Raptors will need to play their best, play better defense and never give up, defensively and offensively.

Still, I think Suns, Mavericks and Spurs are too good right now not to beat the East.
*They are currently 0-3 vs those teams this season.

They will win the Atlantic division, that is basically a given. The Nets are too injured without Kristic and Jefferson, and the rest of the division just sucks. As far as the East, it is the East, so they could have a shot, but I think Detroit has to be the current favorites, followed closely by Miami. The Raptors are a year or 2 and another really good player away from serious title contention. Plus, I'm very skepitical about TJ Ford. Good little player, but he just can't stay healthy. Maybe they should keep starting Calderon and bring Ford off the bench for a burst of energy.

They have a legit chance to win their division because it is the worst in the East. They could make it to the finals but they would have to either beat Miami, Detroit, or the Cavs in a 7 game series. If they did that the best team they could play from the West would be the Spurs. They play similar styles of basketball and the Raptors could keep the series close.

The Raptors are playing terrificly right now. As weak as the east is this season, they have a chance of winning the east, albeit not a large one. I have trouble picking a team so young and lacking so much playoff experience over Clevland, Washington, and Detroit, who are all on par talent-wise, and all have veterans with playoff experince. I'd look for the Raptors to be much more of a playoff threat over the next couple of years.
With that said, you can't rule out the Raptors to pull the upset, and win in the east if they're still playing well.
If they make the finals, they'll be heavy underdogs to flat out anyone in the West, but again, if they make the finals, you can't rule them out- they just have to win four games.

I think if Bosh stays healthy they can win their divison, now the EASTERN Confrece.... i don't know. They will get past the first round and make a 7 game series after that but they need a huge trade in the 2nd half of the season. I mean big trade, like draft pick or player. I know next year they will be even more talk about the Raptors but i can't see them there yet. But i did pick the Spurs and Pistons last year.

Atlantic Division? YES
Eastern Conference? NO, only if there is a miracle.

Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat and the Washington Wizards are the possible winners for the Eastern Conference.

Barring a catastrophy occuring in Detroit, Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, and Washington (all have to be eliminated)... they have absolutely no chance of winning the east. They will however mop the floor with the division and give a 2nd round team a good scare.

No... not at this point in time... they are fairly young and need i think at least a season to gel their team together... look at Miami It took a season of D. Wade and Shaq to get into a groove and to find all the missing parts... Bosh and Bargnani are great players and the team could possibly be the corner stones of that team... but they need a better point and help off the bench as well...

The Atlantic. Yes! The East? Detroit would rough em up! Miami has too much 'ship experience and Cleveland, Indiana and Washington are more talented. So it's a "NO" for me.
