Well from what I read about your topics, you don't really have to have a character that relates to you but one that impressed you.
I like the suggestion made by an earlier answer about the Nancy Drew character. This character is indeed quite interesting and impressive. I was never one to read long books. But when I would sit down with one of the Nancy Drew book series, the original series of course, I would not be able to put it down. It is so interesting and the character does not care of what she goes through.
Another character I find interesting is from "A Walk To Remember" by Nicholas Sparks. This is truly in incredible book. The main character (I think her name is Jamie), develops lucemia and she makes a list of goals that she wants to do before she dies. She helped turn around the life of a troubled teenager who later falls in love with her and marries her shortly before she dies. She can be labelled as a strong person because even though she is sick with lukemia, she still tries to do what she thinks is best and to help others.
Good luck with your essay, and if you get the chance to read "A Walk To Remember" by Nicholas Sparks, grab the opportunity, it is awesome! You can also watch the movie with Shane West and Mandy Moore in it. It is the same concept but just a few differences from the book. I enjoyed the book more!

Well, for starters, have you read any good books recently? You can't write about something if you haven't read it. I could recommend a few books, but I don't know that you have time to read them. Or you can pick your favorite movie and talk about the character which appeals the most to you and write about why you associate with this person, or something that's impressive about the character.
If you can't answer either of those, then write about the ultimate place you would like to visit and why you think this would be the greatest vacation for you.

The book called 'Nancy Drew' written by Carolyne Keene had the main character i.e. Nancy drew who impressed me by her detective skills and also that she was multi-talented and was very adventurous like me and was ready to help anyone even though her life would be at risk in the mission or task given to her.
