Ok, goals scored in a shootout do not count towards the overall stats of an individual player. But the team that wins in a shootout is awarded one goal to break the tie. That goal is counted in the overall goals for/goals against but there is no stat that keeps track over goals from shootout wins. So if the players do not get credit, who or what is that goal credited to?

The shootout turns up in team stats. The winning team gets one goal added to its season total. The losing team has one goal-against added to its season total. This holds regardless of how many goals are scored during the shootout itself.

So when Philadelphia beats Calgary in a shootout after 65 minutes of scoreless hockey, it goes into the books as a 1-0 Flyers win. Both goaltenders are credited with a shutout and no players receive credit for goals, assists, plus/minus or anything else. The Flyers add one goal to their season total.

Of course, what happens in the shootout has to be recorded somewhere, so the NHL has created a new statistical category. If you go to the NHL stats page, you will see shootout numbers listed seperately, and recorded in seperate columns on each player's stats page. That's because shootout goals aren't real goals.

There is a separate statistics for shootouts for goalies for Wins, Losses, Shots Against, Goals Against, Save Percentage, Road/Home Records

Shooters is Shots,Goals, Shot %, GDG (Game Deciding Goals), and Home/Road Records

Then the teams records, which is the same stuff pretty much.

The goals aren't credited to anyone, whatever team gets the most goals in the shootout gets the goal, not a specific player.
