Do you give them "spare" change or food or do you ignore them? Do you really care what they end up doing with the money? Do you feel sorry for them? Do you just not give a ****?

Yes, I give them money. I have to tell you though, one time I gave someone money to get on the bus and when the bus came they did not get on. I felt sort of stupid (and angry) and from then on I didn't want to give out anymore money. But then, someone told me that I should do what is in my heart. That is between me and God. If they misappropriate the funds or lie to get them that is between them and God. That made me feel better and I began feeling more willing to give again. You never know what a helping hand might do. It could be the start of someones rejuvenation of life.

I used to give money all the time even though I couldn't afford it. I stopped doing it when I saw a homeless man that I'd just given money to drinking a beer on my return trip. Since then I started offering to by them food. I had bought a man dinner and when I gave it to him he put it in his bag and continued to beg. I offered to take a homeless man to Checkers for breakfast and this man actually told me NO he would rather have Burger King and said he'd rather have money anyway! I walked away from him. I had this couple standing up against the wall smoking cigarettes and they asked ME for change! They were dressed better than I was AND could get cigarettes? There are a lot of fake, users playing homeless to get things from people.

I used to. I realize some of them are legitimely homeless. But alot of them choose the lifestyle. I have seen people standing on corners with the typical, 'will work for food' signs get into nicer cars than what I drive. I've seen them take out cell phones and start talking. A cell phone is not a priority.

I don't give them cash anymore. I support a feeding program and a shelter. Those 2 programs both have counseling help and job search programs.
