I just read that excerpt from John Amaechi's book, and he referred to one of Karen Carpenter's songs as a example of his being gay. The weird thing, is that I heard someone make a joke about her songs as well, earlier this week. So why are her songs considered "gay music"? She wasn't gay, was she?

Maybe that's how he relates to her music. To the best of my knowledge she wasn't gay.

macho men have insecurities about all kinds of weird things. peer pressures are also a hate tool.

people are manipulated to do things that they don't really enjoy by majorities who are forever doing things just because it matters to people who are supposed to be cool.

i'm not saying that Karen Carpenter songs aren't gay songs. they could very well be for all i know. all i know is that my discretion is very valuable to me. and if i should happen to like Karen Carpenter songs then i should be comfortable with my choice and not be intimidated by what could be a bunch of knot heads.

That is their opinion. I liked the Carpenters to a degree, but you can only listen to just so much bubble gum sugar music with the same general sound or themes b4 you get tired of it.

No. donning a flower-print sundress and putting your hair in pigtails would be considered "girly", and enjoying intercourse with yet another guy would be considered "gay." Having an Eminem track as your ringtone would be considered "popular" or "beginner".
