One of the biggest problems with what's in fast food is that it is very high in fat and calories. Another problem is some the the chemicals or additives that may be in it.
Trans fats are of particular concern because trans fat turns solid and blocks arteries.
A fast-food sandwich can have 800 calories (when a "regular" sandwich may only have 250 or so) because fast-food has meat, cheese, dressing, buns that may have been grilled in butter or margarine, and things like grain filler in the burgers. French fries are incredibly high in calories and fat, and even a modest sized soda has 5 spoons of sugar in it and sodium. Fruit juice is also high in calories. Shakes sold with fast-food have a lot of calories, sugar, fat, and fillers. There can also be a very high sodium content.
Things like mozarella sticks, chicken tenders, or anything else that is breaded and fried is also high in calories and fat.
Another problem with fast-food is the size of the sandwiches, drinks, fries, etc.
If a person does not overeat the rest of the day but goes and gets one fast food meal (other than the salad and water most places offer these days) a day that person could add about 1000 calories to his daily caloric intake.
If you do a search like, "additives in fast food" or "dangers of fast food" you may find more specifics.

You should see the movie Super Size me. I watched it in Health class. Basically, it talks about why McDonalds is bad. You have to see the behind the scenes. If you watch that, you will NEVER eat fast food again. Fast food can cause so many problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, chlosterol, stress, depression, anxiety, and etc. If you are obese before the age of fifteen, you can lose ten years of your life. Obesity is a bad problem in the United States and same with anorexia. Eating disorders are becoming more common. Go on foodnetwork.com and maybe they can help you. Eating too much fast food can make you obese. When you are obese, it's the same thing as being a smoker. People who are obese, are more likely to become a smoker and a person with type 2 diabetes. Stop going to fast food places, even though they're so cheap. If you stop eating fast food now, this will help you in the long run. Fast food contains way to many lipids/fat, not enough nutrients, not enough fiber, not enough protein, it has too much sugar. I hope I helped you.

The vegetables do not outweigh how unhealthy the ground beef and chicken fast food restaurants use. The are only like two tomatoes, one leaf of iceberg lettuce, and two pickles typically on the sandwhiches. Two tomatoes really don't give you that much nutrition. Iceberg lettuce, while it is not fattening, does not give any nutrition because it is pretty much the worse quality lettuce and is like having water. The two pickles give even less nutrition than the tomatoes do and they are usually small, so they barely have any nutritional value. While the ground beef patty is loaded with fat and the chicken is usually in a fried batter which makes it fattening. However, the chicken could be healthy if it was grilled and you don't get the mayonaise, thousand island or any other fattening condiment, but there will probably be like only one grilled chicken sandwhich on the menu. You can go to on fast food restaurants websites and get the nutritional information for their food and you can see how bad it is for yourself. In high school my health teacher had us put down how many calories is in what we normally order at fast food restaurants. I did Mc Donalds and found that for a medium french fries, medium soda, and Big Mac it was a little over 1000 calories. Super Size Me and one of the last chapters of Fast Food Nation will also tell you how bad it is for you.

Lots of fast food contains trans fats but this is beginning to change. Trans fat is very bad because it causes heart attacks.

Most of the fast foods are either too fatty or too salty. No matter if you eat at a fast food place or at home... one needs to find the right balance in their daily food intake that it doesn't contain too much fat nor too much salt. "Balance" is my favorite word!
