There are several dialects of Egyptian Arabic that tend to be mutually intelligible. Traditionally, however, they are divided into Lower Egyptian (Northern) and Upper Egyptian (Southern, also called Sa`idi). Cairene Arabic, the prestige dialect spoken in Cairo, is a Lower Egyptian dialect. Below are two distinguishing features of Lower vs. Upper Egyptian Arabic.
In the Upper Nile Valley, around Kom Ombo and Aswan, there are about 300,000 speakers of Nubian languages, mainly Nobiin, but also Kenuzi-Dongola. The Berber languages are represented by Siwi, spoken by about 5,000 around the Siwa Oasis. There are over a million speakers of the Domari language (an Indo-Aryan language related to Romany), mostly living north of Cairo, and there are about 60,000 Greek speakers in Alexandria. Approximately 77,000 speakers of Bedawi (a Beja language) live in the Eastern Desert.

The Egyptian languages (also known as Copto-Egyptian) consist of ancient Egyptian and Coptic, and form a separate branch among the family of Afro-Asiatic languages. The Egyptian language is among the first written languages, and is known from hieroglyphic inscriptions preserved on monuments and sheets of papyrus. The Coptic language, the only extant descendant of Egyptian, is today the liturgical language of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

The "Koiné" dialect of the Greek language was important in Hellenistic Alexandria, and was used in the philosophy and science of that culture, and was also studied by later Arabic scholars.

I hope that help...Best of luck

It's different, but not totally different. If you wanna hear a "totally different " accent, then you should go to the Gulf area , or any of the Arab countries in the west of Africa. They do speak Arabic ,but their accent is somehow difficult to understand even for Arab speakers in other Arab counties.
As for why? well, as Kalooka said, this is how it goes in any country of the world. If you are American, I am sure you know that America has tons of accent, the most famous of those is the Southern accent, then comes the Newyorkian one and so on. Whenever there is a defined community in any place in the world , this community starts to have its own unique characteristics in any aspect of life, including the language.
Did you know that there are many "languages" in China? And I am saying "languages" not "accents" because I have been told that when those guys speak these languages , they absloutly don't understand eachother, unless when they use the National Language , which is Mandrine. And some uneducated people don't speak Mandrine.
This is true in other countries to, like Gunia in Africa when there are many "languages" within the same country . So if you look at it, you will find that the way the people speak in the Delta is not that different when compared to other countries in the world.
More accents in Egypt are "Cairian, Alexandrian, the Upper Egyptian accent, the Peasants, Portsaid and many more .

Actually when people say Egyptian accent they mean both the difference in pronunciation and voc. the difference between Egyptian and Lebanese accent is that they use different pronunciation and vocabulary.. but both are quite known in the Arab world due to the entertainment industry there. to understand the difference you must understand the official language They are both derived from it, but they change the pronunciation of the words. Lebanese is softer than Egyptian I think Lebanese is easier..but it all depends where you are living or residing in
