You need to turn his sleeping pattern around. Stimulate him though the day by playing with him, walking him giving him things to play with etc. Then at night before you normally go to bed feed him, a tired dog with a full tummy is sure to sleep.
Also you may want to investigate exactly what he is barking at, you don't say if he is an inside or outside dog. If he is an inside dog you may have a mouse or something similar in the house or he maybe able to hear something out side, if he is an outside dog there could be a hundred different things he is barking at.
Dogs don't normally bark for no reason unless they are bored, under stimulated or under exercised.

I know this one, you have a nocturnal hyena.
He was made by a company like Tectronic, If he isn't artificial and if he is a natural living creature your pet is closely related to the mongoose he is not a dog nor a large cat. He is from the animal family Hyaenidae.
One suggestion, now that you are up is to go to the site below called "Jungle Head" Parrot rescue and click on the free flying bird and singing bird videos. Those sure are happy birds, aren't they? That first one could have just flown away if he wanted to.
