Because some people are misinformed that women are ONLY emotional beings. So whatever they do is based on emotions and not body urges. So when a woman gives all that "emotion" to so many men she is considered a whore when in reality she is just doing it for the same reasons a man is.

um....no, I would rather sleep with a virgin, and work together on how to improve, than sleep with someone and all his past partners so to speak. I don't know where that's coming from, but I know A LOT of people that agree with me on that. I would NOT want to sleep with a guy who had sex with many women. Multiple partners does NOT make a man a better lover. Same for women. Just my peice to the guy above me.
as for your question:
They're not. It depends on the clique. Some girls will only accept another girl if she's also a slut. Same goes for boys. In my opinion, anyone who behaves like that is pretty slutty. In this day and age, I just DON'T see the point in a person giving themselves like that to more than one person.
I know those who "haven't sinned" are pretty much the only ones who can "throw stones", but seeing as I'm NOT sexually active, and don't intend to be until after I'm married....
Everyone is going to have their opinion on this. In mine, a guy is no different than a girl if he has sex with many partners. How can it be? they're commiting the same actions. I don't see why anyone would want to be like that, I mean, you take every person you have sex with. So if your partner has slept with 20 people, and you've slept with 1, you're suddenly gaining every person that your partner has been with. And that's just....gross. blech.

it's called double standard! you would think in the year 2007 people would be over this but no... In my opinion it just confirm that a lot of people are very insecure with their sexuality...sad indeed! In the social village we live in for a lot of them a woman is either a "whore" or a "virgin"...we still have a lot of growing up to do.

These days that's not as true as you would think. Mostly it's in the approach to the situation. As a man I would have to say a ho is a ho-male or female, but I will also say that a pimp (hero) is a pimp-male or female. Stereotypically, women who sleep around do it for attention and for pacification rather than the power of being able to say "I make men hunger for me", or to call themselves players. Plus females are thought to be emotional when it comes to sex, and stereotypically, women put more rules on sex, and barriers up as to why they will not have sex-so usually when a woman decided to put those things asside, and put emotions to the side, society tends to look at her in direct relation to the only thing (or person) known to have sex without emotion or restriction...a whore.

Males are stereotypically the complete opposite in that males who claim to have emotional sex, or barriers or moral sex are usually looked at as weak or pu$$ies. While males who tend to look at sex coldly are looked at as players because they are looked at as conquerors in the most natural sense. Look at the coralation...men live to conquer, and sex is no different. Women place barriers and rules on their own personal conduct and men see that as a challenge. Can I be the one to break "women" down and get as many of them to break their rules of conduct as possible. Men don't have the same barriers and rules of conduct, so sexually-there's no conquest for women, so in contrast-men are easy women aren't. So if a man gets laid a lot-he's a hero because other men know that it's hard to get laid when we have rules to contend with. If a woman gets laid a lot-it's not hard work for her...basically the thought is that all she has to do is lay down and the men will come after her...then she's looked at like a whore.

because the guys think its not ok that the only thing that i can think of i have to say this is the hardest question ive had to answer. but i have to disagree with what some one else wrote when they said that the more people that a girl sleeps with the looser they get. no i have had three kids and i think im tighter now then i was before i had kids. so i think its just a name that guys call girls because they r jealous that we can get more than the guys

outdated idea unfortunately. Personally I think its gender rascism and if its OK for the male then its OK for the female. But thats me. Sorry I havent got a better answer.

actually the Bible refers to promiscuous men as
"whore mongers".
men that have sex with whores .

a whore is a woman or girl that has sex
for pleasure or for personal gain
with whomever she chooses
whenever she wants.
