Here are the current latest processors and which are the fastest. From top (fastest) to bottom (Slowest).
1) Intel Core 2 Duo / Core 2 Extreme
2) AMD Athlon64 X2 / Athlon FX Series
3) Intel Pentium D / Pentium Extreme Edition
4) AMD Athlon64 Series
5) AMD Sempron Series

in my opinion I thank that the Intel core duo is by far .
but ADM 64 is greater as well
