because its not big in the US (as in the case of basketball). and we do not have good players. it takes a lot of effort to make soccer work and we just do not have what it takes to make that happen.

I'm now in the US and I've only learned to be a soccer fan since 2002. Growing up in the Philippines, my brothers all played basketball and soccer wasn't popular. I think it's not a grassroots sport but more like a sport for rich kids from private schools. However, the Philippines usually mimics the US so if soccer becomes popular here, it may also become popular there.

lack of exposure basically altho that could change now that we're getting all the top flight league games on pay tv. can't say there's no attention being paid to grassroots devt. cuz there's some effort there but maybe not yet enough. patience is the key and maybe more private sector support as well. govt doesnt care about these things, only politics. as for the 4 B's, they're the ones we're relatively good at so i wont begrudge the attention these sports are getting. anyway, football will prosper in time i think. maybe we should get more mestizos working on it as they're the only ones who care, lol. btw, r u pinoy?

Most Filipinos are too fixated on basketball and golf for their own good. Billiards, boxing, badminton and even volleyball enjoy a greater following here. Part of the answer also lies in the deficiency of support and the absence of a program to propagate the sport at the grassroots level.
