I'm super analytical and critical, but everytime I read my horoscope it really tends to correlate with what I am going through most of the time. I look at the other horoscopes and try to fit them to me, but they just don't fit. How do you think they work?

Stanford University, Southwest Missouri State University, and Stanley Medical Research Institute in Bethesda, Md., have independently found a link between the month in which you were born and a predisposition to certain illnesses. Do you think that would be why?

Your sun sign, the one most people know about and the one listed in the newspapers, is what you share with approximately 1/12th of the world's population. So horoscopes written for just the sun sign must necessarily be quite general.

Still, as you point out, if you go looking at the other sun signs on a given day, they do not tend to fit nearly so well. That's because there really are character traits which correllate well with the sun signs. As to why that is, we can only speculate.

But consider this: everyone born under the same sign in the same general geographic area were born to, and had their birthday celebrations in, roughly the same weather pattern, roughly the same section of the night sky above them, and so on. They do in fact have something in common, however remote the connection to particular personality traits.

Now further suppose that there are subtle influences which can have more intense effects than we realize which come from certain sectors of the night sky -- i.e., from certain directions within the wheel of the zodiac. We still know very little about the electrochemical processes of our brains. Perhaps one day these subtle forces will be better understood, and someone will shout, "Of course! That's why Pisces is the most emotional and neurotic of all the signs!" You know, perfectly obvious once someone discovers it, like the recent discoveries concerning lithium and bipolar disorder.

The way every finger print of every person is different so is a horoscope. It is a true picture of what one actually was, is and will be. Although people rubbish astrology just as another figment of entertainment and imagination, but in true sense, it is a science, which tries to find some directions of one's present and future. It requires Years and Years of study and Practice to be able to tell some thing with some reliability.
The Logic of Astrology -- How it works in Nutshell
It is a known fact that High Tides and Low Tides Occur due to the Gravitational pull of of Moon, since the Moon is the nearest and the oceans are very large we see that effect. SIMILARLY every Planet and Celestial Body effects "Everything" that contains water, be it a Place, a human, or an animal.

They did a test where they gave people a horoscope regardless of their sign and each person thought it was their horoscope. The reason for this is that the writers use probability, not the stars to write them. Some astrologers use actual horoscopes but because humans are rather predictable the short newspaper style ones are just probability.

I like Rob Brezney but I'm careful with this stuff because its addictive and life should not be based on a stranger's predictions.

I've found astrolgy to be most useful for personality traits.

My experience is that every once it a while they'll get something right, but most of the time it's completely irrelevant. Also, my "profile" for my sign doesn't suit me at all. Actually, it's almost completely the opposite. I think the astrologers were looking through the wrong end of the telescope.

ps, if you really believe that all people born in the same month will be having good luck with love, bad luck with money, etc, all at the same time, you are one gullible person.

They are. And reasoning from the nick name you have chosen let me have the following reading for you.

"You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You also pride yourself as an independent thinker; and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof. But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic"

Barnum effect is the observation that individuals will give high accuracy ratings to descriptions of their personality that supposedly are tailored specifically for them, but are in fact vague and general enough to apply to a wide range of people
