I grew up in a small city. Then went abroad for further education and studied and worked in a very cosmopolitan environment!! As luck wud have it, i had to come back to my hometown and now 2 years later, I still find it so tough getting used to the people and the environment and the pace of things. I guess the exposure that you may have during the course of your life changes your perspective. I did not have an option to pack my bags and leave, but even if I did, I dont know if I'd be so willing to take it up. Mainly because my heart is where home is and not vice versa :)

The Job will not come to you.
You need to go out and find it.
If you can't find work in your hometown,
then look outside your hometown.
Some people go great distances to find work.
The relocate to different states and cities.
Mexicans and foreigners relocate to the USA just to find work.
You can't even go outside your own hometown?

i grew up in a big city....
i had a group of friends/colleagues that i was close to and was working in a specific trade... things didnt work out and i really didnt feel continuing down that path... so i changed careers and never really bumped into those people again.
if you really feel its affecting your ability to move yourself forward as a person... move to a big city and start your career over. you can always come back...
sounds like you need to re-establish your roots..
good luck to you.
