I smoked for 33 years, 3 packs a day the last 2 years before I quit. I had tried many times to quit by timing smoking, and swearing them off when I woke to a new day. I found there was some kind of financial hold on me, as I couldn't stand to waste good cigarettes. So, one day, after work, I stopped and bought a brand new pack....$5. I opened them and lit one up. When I was done smoking it, I threw the rest of the pack right out the window. I haven't smoked since...3 years now.

The nicotine patch works great, even if you wear it and contiue to smoke you wont be able to take down more than 2 or 3 a day. Eventually you just give up the smokes; I heard of another effective way to quit smoking too, just imagine everytime you go through withdraws there is a fight going on within you for control over your body, just win the fight and the symptoms will go away. It helps if you chew strong gum or take altoids mints and eat lots of food too.

There are many "goodies" out there, from pills to patches, none of them worked for me. Twice I was able to quit because of religion, but started again while in the hospital.
I now have stopped smoking because where I live the price of the Cigarettes is high. They are so expensive that most people have turned to illegal stuff because it is cheaper than the legal cigarettes.
