before everything, Sam Bowie wasn't picked via the Nets yet via Portland at # 2 interior the 80 4 Draft, under Hakeem Olajuwon and above Michael Jordan. Len Bias grew to become into picked 2nd interior the 1986 draft at the back of Cleveland's Brad Daugherty. the all-time first usual %. bust award could flow to... l. a. Rue Martin 6'-11'' 208 lbs 1st usual in via Portland in 1972, earlier than Bob McAdoo. in basically 4 NBA seasons, Martin in no way averaged greater beneficial than 7 ppg and 5 rpg. His profession averages of 5.3 ppg and four.6 rpg have been in trouble-free terms beefed up via his 1974-seventy 5 season.

I'd have to say it's hard to beat Olowokandi (1998). But you could make a compelling argument for Kwame Brown (2001) Pervis Ellison (1989) and Joe Barry Carroll (1980, just for fun run a Wikipedia search on him).
Sanchir B- besides exhibiting extremely poor taste by nominating Len Bias, neither he or Sam Bowie were #1 selections.

Michael Olowokandi! To think that Dirk, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, and Antawn Jameson all came out of that draft! In constrast Olowokandi seemed to have peaked in his third season at 10 points and 8 boards per game.
Kwame Brown has so far been anything but stellar, but at least, when healthy, he seems to be slowly getting better. Also, except for Gasol, there were not many players much better from that draft.

Has to be Michael Olowokandi. Never really played well and then was always hurt. And look who the Clippers passed on. Dirk Nowitski, Vince Carter, Larry Hughes, Mike Bibby just to name a few. Kwame Brown while not playing as well as a 1st pick should has been solid on defense when he is healthy and is a plus for his team.

Sam Bowie because Portland could have got Jordan. Also Kwame Brown was a bust. Plus Len Bias who didn't play a single second.

I have to agree with the guys above. The fact that Olowakandi got drafted before all that talent is embarrassing..and for the guy a couple posts above mine it couldn't have been Bowie or Bias because they were both #2 picks. Hakeem was drafted before Bowie and Brad Daugherty before Bias.
