The word I like to use is "blessed".
We have a wonderful country here. It's not perfect, as many expect it to be, but nothing is going to be perfect in life. But it is the best thing going, I can assure you.
We can still go where we please, say basically what we please, disagree or agree with one another, go to church and worship as we please, and we have such an abundance of things here. We have plenty of food, water, resources, and sometimes we tend to take that for granted. It's really a gift, not a right.
We are truly a blessed nation. So many in the world criticize this country, but when it comes down to it........if we're so bad, why are so many people trying to get here and be citizens? That answer is quite obvious.

Whatever dude...
A bastion of democracy, more than 50% of Americans are either to stupid, to lazy or to indifferent to vote..so you get the government you deserve.
Tolerant..yes you will finance people like Saddam and the Taliban to fight your dirty wars and then turn on them when they no longer suit your purpose.
vast beautiful country ..that is so heavily poluted in most of its major cities that residents are continiously ill.
Enriched with so many ethnicities ..that live in ghettoes and cannot move from one side of a city to the next without breaking some tribal turf law and at risk of being attacked or killed.
Rich and powerful.. at the expensce of the majority of your citizens that work several jobs on minimum wages just to pay rent.
geagraphically isolated...dude foreigners crashed planes into your landmark buildings and shut down a mojor city...you can be touched! dont ever doubt that.
mate , Americans can bullshit them selves and each other all they want but your country is a laughing stock on the world stage..and has been for a while!
When ypour taxes pay for FREE medical treatment( all hospitals and all treatments , FREE education ( including universities) and a balanced SOCIAL welfare system( that allows job seekers options ) come and talk to me.

How do you contrue that Americans are the luckiest people on the earth? American Government dragged itself in wars in various parts of the globe. Now American people have to pay through their nose the cost of these wars. Muslims all over the world hate the Americans because of their Government policies. Because of American policies, European Union came into being and they have their own currency which again bashes the American Dollar. Now American Govt spies on its own people which is a violation of the individual privacy and how can it be compared to democracy. Afro-Americans get bashed everyday by the white policemen. It is on the record of the police brutality against the Afro-Americans. So, how does it compare with the Democracy? Talking of ethnicities, now there is a hatred campaign against Mexicans.
You talk about that the Americas are geographically isolated from hostile regions. Three South American countries are against the USA. Though the USA is far from the Islamic countries, Al Quaida could bomb the World Trade Centre with impunity. One can add on many things to deny you the wish that the Americans are the luckiest people on the earth.

Yea, I do. I especially like American movies and computer games. Sino-American trade is also important to me, and that is whant I do for a living here in China.I paid a business trip to Houston last year to attend a trade show. I visited Houston Zoo, Six Flags, Astro World, and yea, I touched the spaceship flew by Armstrong with my right hand, yea, my right hand. I also ate some hambergers at Bergurger King. I lived in Holiday Inn.

I beg to differ
Bastion of democracy-Patriot Act
Tolerant-Pointless war in Iraq
Vast beautiful country-One of the largest polluters
Ethnicities-People with hate ons for Mexicans and Muslims
Rich-Huge national debt
Powerful-China is creeping up awful fast
Isolated from Hostile Regions-Twice viciously attacked at home with no warning in the last 60 years.

Generally Americans have made their country a very livable place; I'd like to think they made their own luck. But sometimes I feel the caretakers (US governments) conveniently forget the principles laid down by their Founding Fathers; and when they do I can't agree with what you suggest.

Not the luckiest, no (take the UN report on child happiness, for example). But we are certainly a part of the top tier of luck, yes.

Not really. We are totally addicted and dependent on oil for our 40 mile commutes and suburban way of life. If this is cut off by even 10% you will be sorry you were ever American. I can promis you that. Massive meltdown of our economy and hunger and starvation. Possibly even cannibalism. Nothing like it in world history.
American life is comfortable but not rich like other places in the world. No sense of community, suburban isolation etc.

Yes I agree! And that is why we must fight hell to get her back on track with preservation of our laws of the original constitution and not anymore altering to be done in the name of fear! We need to appreciate our fore fathers and start respecting the fact that thousands upon thousands of our people died here to make us free from all the tyranny! And that is why we are so angry because this administration is bringing the old King George back and worse! I am willing to fight for my country to the death, on this soil, and yet I hope it never comes to that ever! God bless
