Yes, I do shave down there on occasion. Most of the time until recently due to a medical issue I'm trying to get figured out I trim the hairs instead. When I have shaved I use a razor. A new one if I can help it as another poster suggested.

My dr also prefers that I trim them if it can be helped.

As one of the other posters said ingrown hairs can be an issue at times and I have dealt with one.

I do my shaving on the toilet b/c it's easier to do it but yes I keep the area wet and soaped during the time I'm doing it.

UG! I remember having to do that for my ballet classe! Well honestly, you really could get it waxed. But if you're gonna shave, trim it down first, and I recommend shaving a little more everyday. So you can get used to it, and in case you change your mind, there will still be something there. Keep in mind, once it's gone, you'll have to keep up with it or it'll get itchy. There are benefits though, like hygene. I was always really embarassed about it. Even though everyone else in class had to do it too. It was kind of silly, we couldn't wear underwear with our leotard and tights 0.o I'm so glad I don't go there anymore.
Ack! rambeling. Anyway. If you do shave it, do it in the bathtub where you can sit have have a better angle. Or if you have the money, and the nerve, go get it waxed. I hear it's not bad at all when you get used to it.

First of all, do it in the shower where both the razor and you body are constantly wet, that way it hurts a lot less, and you won't get razor burn. What I usually do is wash it thoroughly with soap first then carefully shave the top and sides first. Then EXTRA carefully shave the inner parts [but not to far in.. that would SUCK]. Then I wash it again with soap, just to make sure I get everything out. Good luck, and remember, do it CAREFULLY.

it's safer to get Brazilian wax then to shave down below because it can cause red bumps and painful in grown hairs. Atleast that's what Doctor Oz said on the Oprah Show the other day.

I shave with the hair never against it.
I shave every second day to keep it looking good and shave the good ole airport strip.
If you dont now what that is, it's the one line in the middle about 2cm wide.

use conditioner vs. shaving cream. use a brand new razor. always shave with the growth, not against. and best advice is to soak in tub 5-10 min before shaving to allow pores to open up. this will reduce likelyhood of razor burn and ingrown hairs.

Trim first, then shave in the direction of hair growth and use plenty of moisturizer afterward. Make sure the moisturizer is something unscented like Luberderm.

try waxing instead. it's a little painful at the beginning but it's totally worth it . No shave bumps and you don't have to do it everyday!
