Earlier the batsmen were really playing up, coming to the pitch of the ball and playing it...
But now players like Uthappa,Shewag,Dhoni, etc have very less foot moments or they are always front foot shot players..
Is it the act of showing aggressiveness??
As a ball is pitched at hip height close to the body they are not able to play the normal back foot stroke rather try to edge it to slip cordon, you would have seen in the recent 2 matches how Robin got out both of them being close to the body at hip height, this may also affect the agressiveness of the player as well as his confidence with him.

"Foot movements" ... if thats what you are meaning, then I will partially disagree ... I you have played much cricket, you will realise how easy a batsmen will feel at ease with good foot work down the pitch ... at home most of the Indian mentality, forgive me in using this phrase, is to stick as much to the crease and be a "pinch hitter", that totally curbs the thought required for the foot movements.

Often you will see that batsmen with near-perfect foot work are the ones, who in long-term cricket, have been regarded the most ... Its not a fact but the very truth itself ... cricket is just about stamina and agility, it now has some thought-process included in it also ... thats the Charisma in the game!

Enjoy it!

You are right you have mentioned Dhoni, Sehwag, Uthappa and another player is there he is Sachin Tendulkar, Because all these players use Weight Bat, more than 5 kgs. When they get in to foot moment bat will went slow to the place of ball. Their ideas are let the ball comes then they hit hard or placing well. Moreover sachin uses weightless bats on recent days for good shots. Basically foot moments for cut shots and square cuts. Now you can understand how they hitting the ball hard. Just they want to do is placing the bat with strength in right place.

Foot moment is required to adjust the length and line of the ball hence to create room for playing.

In fact Dhoni does make room to himself by various unorthodox ways which sometimes look awkward. It's fine as long as they find 'room'.

But people like Sehwag etc., it can create a problem because a good length ball with a perfect line can pose a problem due to the lack of foot moment. So, they often get out to caught behind or into the slips because they don't know what to do with that ball.

Foot moment is very essential aspect of batting. Foot moments helps a batsmen to get inline with the delivery, its commonly seen a batsmens initial moment is coming forward with lack of foot moment batsmen is neither not back on his crease which makes it difficult to decide shot for eg. in recent one day match Vs WI Robin had hit powell for 2 sixes in a row if you saw the third ball robin was stuck on his crease and had to play a awkward shot edeging it to slips.

Recently sehwag is also struggling with foot moments and is hanging the bat in air for edges to slips.

Now back to initial foot moments its seen that a batsmens initial moment is front foot which helps his to drive or alternatively if ball is shot he can always go back on back foot stand tall and flick , pull , cut, hook or defend the ball which Dhoni is now trying to make up in his batting.
