Whenever I am out and about sometimes I'll just look and someone and feel extremely sad. For example: someone eating alone, an over weight teenager who keeps tugging on his shirt because he feels so insecure, someone I'm hanging out with making fun of an overweight kid who's giddy over chocolate fountain etc. I know these people don't want my pitty, but I can't help but feel sad for these people. It doesn't stop there, I'll think about it for days and sometimes weeks or months. Is this a form of OCD and whats the psycology behind it.

I am neither lonely or overweight. Does this ever happen to anyone else? I wish i could tell some of these people that everything will be alright.

ok ready?
Your experiencing empathy and compassion and its actually a really good thing! The fact that your so sensitive to it means your special. It also means that you need to work extra hard at letting go of it after the event. (not easy to do)
This will probably sound really weird to you.......but i would suggest you ask for protection from other peoples negative energies. You can ask God, The Universe, The Angels etc tonot let there energy drain you.
Dont feel weird about it tho, its a good thing for sure.

If it makes you feel any better...maybe what you think the person is going through isn't what they are feeling at all. I go out to eat alone ALL THE TIME! You should try it sometimes, it's very empowering. Sometimes I go out with friends and we all have a ball. Other times I just want to be alone and think through some things. The person tugging at their shirt, maybe they are nervous or maybe the shirt itches them...who knows? The point is the person maybe be happier than you think they are, so you might not even have a reason to be sad for them!

You got some funny answers and a good answer about empathy, but the solution suggested was prayer but that is only a part of the solution. Asking God or universe to insulate you is not a good prayer, since you have been given empathy so that you help others.

Now, you can help in many ways. If possible, help them directly (if they are poor spare some money, if some one is looking forlorn and lonely sit with them and talk to them etc.) but when the situation is such that you cannot directly help on the physical plane, you can send out a prayer to God / universe to help them. That would do a lot of good to them.

About your own suffering, learn how to clean your aura. Reiki is one way. Pranic Healing is another way. Visualisation of being cleaned is another means. Taking a salt water / sea water bath is another way of clearing your aura.

Some situations where the aura is getting contaminated too much and you feel threatened, it is OK to shield yourself by surrounding yourself with a blue or golden aura (visualised as enveloping you) and being protected. Reiki can be requested for such help too.

Feel free to message me if needed. God bless.

all depends what kind of person are you , do you maybe feel like you can help a overweight person or try to interact with a lonely person to really see what is in inside him/her or......

are you a observer that only has sympathy or compassion for those persons and just only knows that those people are kind of miserable.

We all live in different kinds of situations ,do not feel guilty for someones life, feel guilty if you had the capacity to help and didn't do nothing

I think the above answers is right. Don't go on making assumptions that you can OCD, you don't and you don't have any other symptoms of mental disorders. You're just your own person, and that's fine, everyone's different. However, if this bothers you and you find it is interrupting your life, I would recommend seeing help.

I do not know the psychology behind it but I do know mercy (Holy Spirit) is behind it. I used to feel the same way especially for people who don't have anything and life just seems so helpless and hopeless. The Bible says, great is the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

I think a remedy for you would be to get involved in some kind of program that helps teens or children lose weight. Your natural empathy for this problem is a gift. So use it!

happens to me as well. it is because existence is pain, you are seeing that in other people. you are also experiencing it yourself because you feel the pain of not being able to help others.

tell yourself everything is all right, tell the ones you love. you can't help everybody, help the ones you can.
