For those unfamiliar with him, Jim Rome is the host of the "Jim Rome Show" on sports radio, as well as "Jim Rome is Burning" on ESPN.

He's got nothing but vile things to say about the sport of soccer. I wouldn't make a big deal about it if he just doesn't find the sport interesting and not talk about it on his shows; but the fact that he mocks and insults the sport and its fans all the time begs me to ask: What is up with him and soccer?!

Now, I'm not a soccer fan. I just want to know why Mr. Rome hates soccer so much. Is it all an act? Was he cut from a soccer team when he was kid, or hit in the head with a soccer ball when he was a baby?

I have been listening to Rome for years and to be honest with you I think his issue with soccer is part of his schtick.

I live in KC and a few years back he had KC Wizards goal keeper Tony Meola on his radio show and Tony asked him why he hated soccer so much and Rome alluded to the fact that it was to generate laughs from some and to rile up others.

It seems to work for him pretty well!

He is an entertainer - first off - and simply feeding one-liners to an audience that mostly follows the big four pro sports, plus college football and basketball. He used to be flippant about Thoroughbred racing, but now can't talk it up enough since he is in several ownership/partnership deals with runners on the California circuit.

I was so happy when Jim Everett had a scrap with Romie.

Jim Rome is a mouth without conscience and the last source of sports information that any intelligent being should rely on, including chimpanzees. Just another rabble-rouser or ratings whore.

Jim Rome has a passion to hate european football because he hates the acting. He hates it when someone gets kicked in the shins and in response, the player clucthes his groin or the feigned attempts to look innocent while you see the deliberateness of the hit. Totally unnecessary and unsportsmanlike. Also he argues that the world cup is nothing but a gathering of rivalries and not a gathering for world peace.

Thats my take, I'm out

Peace, Bra!!!
