My son is six and a half months old, and our house is very dry. He is getting very hard boogers half-in and half-out of his nostril... makes it hard for him to breathe and is pretty gross to look at too! But when I try to remove them, he screams blue murder and once I actually accidentally took off a tiny bit of nose-skin with the booger! I felt terrible. :(( I have two humidifiers going and have tried a little warm water, but it still hurts him. Would mineral oil or lotion of some sort help? Any advice appreciated by both of us!

Cheers,

Sam & Son

Nose Booger Removal

Cotton buds dipped in water. Gentle turn the bud inside the nostril to soften and remove boogers.
Perhaps it might help if he were to drink water regularly so that the mouth and nose remained moist.

Mineral oils are too strong to use on a baby's skin and may produce unintended consequences. Oils in the humidifiers might give some relief.

I agree, saline spray/drops, it's called Little Noses. In the meantime just keep those humidifiers going and use a warm damp cloth to moisten them but don't pull on them, if they won't wipe off or aspirate out, just wait until they do. Don't use mineral oil or lotion, lotion may just make it clogged up worse. Now post booger removal a little under and on the tip of his nose to soothe can't hurt.

Good luck and Kiss that little nosey!

Wet a Q-tip and use that it works pretty well and the baby probably wont even notice well maybe a little but its alot better than the bulb thingie most kids hate that and you would have to hold him down and if its just you well thats kinda hard to do cause you got to hold the hands, feet, and head all at once. So yeah just let him sit there and play with a favorite toy and sit him on you lap and do it i say its a hole lot easer than any other method i have tried.

When my littlies have this problem, I put them in a lovely warm bath, and when they're distracted and playing about I dab the warm water over their noses.
When bathtime is over, the water will have softened the boogies and usually the baby will rub it's nose in the towel itself and they come off. I then put a little Vaseline on the nostrils and that catches more boogies but keeps them soft...

Get a bud with Vaseline and swoop it around it it should make the booger relax keep doing it until the booger slide right out!

Buy some saline spray for the nose, and spray it in his nostrils. Let it sit and loosen up whatever is in there, then use a nasal aspirator (a blue bulb with a hollolw, pointed end), and suck the boogers out. That's the method I've used for my 5-month-old since he was born.

put a little vaseline on a Qtip and gently place in his nostril at night before bed. Overnight the vaseline will soften the hard stuff in his nose and you will be able to easily wipe it out and off.
Good Luck
