The heart is the soul.
The statement the eyes are the window to the soul simply means by looking into someone's eyes you can see what they really feel. And because feelings are associated with the heart, the heart is your soul.

IF THE EYES ARE WINDOWS TO THE SOUL....
Then the heart would have to be the valley behind the house, surrounded by the mountains that were placed there to keep it safe. The valley's only entrance is protected by the house, which contains the windows to our soul. All manner of creatures live there, great and small - all waiting for a chance to be given life in the mind of their creator, thoughts and feelings and emotions that we don't normally allow to escape us during our day to day lives.
It usually takes a very courageous explorer to find the valley, let alone get inside it to learn about the delicate ecosystem that is our hearts....
