There are consulting opportunities, but normally an MBA will yield better opportunities in this area.

Plenty, I have master's in English Lit. and guess what? I teach English Lit; however, a master's in economics can be used outside of being a general economist. You could pursue a corporate job as a strategist/budget planner. You could always get into finance, as a planner for individuals, a consultant or employee for investment firms, a market forecaster. You will probably fare better than most in general entry-level corporate America, and your advanced degree will set your ceiling higher and push your promotions faster--if you perform. BTW: I love teaching English Lit.

There are many jobs in financial planning both private and government. Highly paid jobs at that. I have a cousin with that degree and he is the chancellor of the universtiy here

There is such a wide range of work you could do. Just go out and look.
