It is a hazzard of winter weather driving. Just happened to my 2004 VW Jetta in Connecticut. I drove in all that snow and Ice. My tire wells and tires were completely covered under the car with caked on ice/snow. Unless you can find a way to clean all that stuff away, the caked ice and snow, will throw things off ballance, causing vibrations, srapping sounds and such. I tried the car wash last night, and left it parked in someones garage trying to thaw it out. After if it still vibrates you might need to get the weights re-balanced because the weights get thrown off..

thats exactly the problem. The snow build up in the wheel wells make the car shake. Kick it loose, if you can, early tomorrow, wash your car. That's if your car is newer. Older cars, the doors will freeze if you wash it. Also don't wash it if your side streets and main streets aren't clear. If it still shakes at 50+, get your brakes checked.

FOR SURE the snow is packed, unevenly into the rims and the backside of the rims, beings they are hard to reach , is where the problem is -this will easily cause the car to shake

By spinning the wheels you probably got a lot of slush in the wheel rim that froze overnight. Once things warm up and the roads clear, it might get better.

Sounds like a tire balance problem
they can check this out for very reasonable charge at most tire shops -- if they do need adjustment -- that is a low dollar deal as well (or should be at least) !!

Besure to check the inside of the rim, snow can often get stuck in there and will throw off your wheel alignment.

You either have ice compacted in the rim, or you need a front end alignment.
If you hit anything recently (curb or snowbank) then its probably a front end alignment issue.

sounds like your vehicle is just cold, most vehicles suffer alot like people do, you probably have ice on moving parts that don't get any exposure to the sun and so it may take awhile for your car to run and ride like normal, as long as you dont have any abnormal noises, I wouldnt worry too much about it.

same thing happens to me thoughout the winter - I have a CR-V - I take mine to the coin car wash and spray underneath the SUV - around the wheels and axle...that will resolve the shakes.
