I beg of you, to really dig deep inside yourself and find what you are passionate about. If you do not like accounting, sit down with your mom and have a mature conversation about. Explain to her, that while the money may be great, your career satisfaction and pending happiness are more important to you than the size of your paycheck. Accounting is not something that everyone can do happily. PLEASE take it from me. I was told I should be an accountant and I did it FOR THE MONEY and I 100% absolutely, positively dislike it. It is not fulfilling to me, it is not even interesting to me. In fact, I'm contemplating changing careers. I wish I knew then what I know now. Also, tell your mom, that just because they make a lot of money, doesn't mean much. It's all relative. You could be a teacher making a salary of $35,000 and manage your money better than being an accountant making $50,000. Most people who earn more, spend more - it's that simple. Anyway, PLEASE be honest with your mom and more importantly with yourself. Good luck - in the end, it is your life and your happiness that you are talking about. You can appreciate and respect your mom for her wanting the best for you or looking out for you but hopefully, she can respect your wish to do something meaningful to you. You're talking about a career lasting a good 40-50 years...better make it a good one :)

Do what you love. A career choice is a big decision that only you can make for yourself. After all, you are the one who have to go to work everyday and live with it. My parents want me to be an accountant too but I went to art school instead. I make sure with the choice I made, I can handle it myself and not have to ask for their help too much. Don't want my Dad to said "you should have...." At the end, they want to help me even when I didn't ask for it. Do what you want to do. It will work out fine. Good Luck.

Sit down and talk to your mother and let her know that being an accountant is not what you want. You will need to follow your dream and do what is best for you. When you work in a job that you do not like you will not do well. You need to be happy at what you do.

Are you good at Math? Do you like working alone in a less social environment?
I can understand your mom wanting you to choose a lucrative career path. She wants the best for you, but you need to be happy. What are you good at?
Take one of those aptitude tests in the school counseling dept & see where your strenghs lie.

Your language looks creative. Accounting is not a creative language. Ask your mom what happens to creative accountants.
Trust your feelings.

Find what you love to do and just do it. Don't ever do something someone wants you to do unless you actually want to do it. Otherwise, you may harbor feelings for not following your own life path.
