Here's the scoop. I saw my doctor once, who took his hand and measured where my uterus was, putting me at 7 weeks at the time. I am now '10' weeks if he is accurate( no sonogram done yet). But I'm huge! When ppl on the street look at me, they assume I'm about 5 months pregnant. This is my second pregnancy, and I know some mothers show earlier after the first pregnancy, but this is RIDICULOUS! I had sex with my army bound husband back in Oct, and then when he came home for the holidays Dec 20th. By the way, I took a preg test in Dec that came back negative.

Is it possible for me to only be 10 weeks and look MUCH further along? Or is the doctor's "estimated guess" wrong?

With my first baby (born August 1, 2006) I barely showed until four or five months. I am pregnant now, five weeks I think, and have gone from size 3 to size 7 jeans already! So yes, it is possible to show a lot more the second time around. I'm told that this is because your uterus and abdomen have already been stretched out the first time, so the baby doesn't have to exert nearly as much pressure to make room for itself if it's not the first. Kind of like blowing up a balloon for the second time - it's a lot easier, and by the third or fourth time it takes almost no pressure at all!

Because yr husband is military, you know exactly what your dates are. My husband's a long-haul trucker so I kind of know - but he's home at two week intervals.

Best wishes to you both - we'll all be wearing red tomorrow.

Cheers,

Samlet

I just had a baby 8 months ago and I had to be induced because my fluids were low. If you are measuring smaller it's not that the baby is smaller it could be the lack of fluids that is making you look smaller and that's not good because that means the baby has alot less fluids than normal. Measurements don't neccesarily mean anything because all babies come in different shapes and sizes that is just based on an average. When was your last period you calculate from that to determine your due date you can call any clinic and tell them your when your last period was and they can give you a due date and that is in a 2 week range. Also when you have a sonagram they measure the baby and can tell you how far you are sounds like your dr. doesn't know ****. I would definately go somewhere else.

due dates are not an exact science. A "normal" pregnancy is between 32 and 42 weeks. So how could anyone including a doctor give an exact due date? A due date is more of a point of reference, when to start expecting the baby to arrive. That's why women will say they've gone "over" their due date...because they are thinking in the 9 month terms rather than the 32-42 week terms. Everyone kept telling me I was overdue with my daughter (I was given Christmas as my "due date") However she decided not to arrive until January 21st which was well within the 32-42 week range. I have a friend who is an Ob GYN...when someone asks her for an exact date the baby will be here she tells them...When the baby shows up is when the baby is due.

The doctor will tell you, because I have been told with my third pregnancy, that an early sonogram will be more accurate in determining your due date. However, that being said, I was told THREE different due dates with my third. I actually had her on the first due date given. And I gained A LOT more weight with baby number three than I did with numbers two and one. Once your body has had a baby, it automtically goes back in to that mode and will make you look further along than what your due date is. Check with your doctor, and tell him what your feelings are and ask him questions. The only way for you to find out the true answer to this question is to see if they will give you an ultrasound and discussing it with your Dr.

I have seen women who look like that with their first pregnancy. Being your second makes it even more likely. There are sites online that show week by week belly pictures and you can see in some that some show much more than others. I've even heard of people who are ready to deliver and don't look pregnant. I guess the extremes can go both ways.

2 times so far. July 12th and Aug 1st. As of now I am 16 but wouldn't be surprised having the baby on the July 12th since that is the closest to conception date. That's nearly 3 weeks different.

a due date is collected on the babsis of the information that u give to the dr about the last lmp,so if the date is not given correct then there can be a miscalculation and it normally happens with women who have there period after 2-3months so there the possibility of miscalculation is there as that point of time it is hard to tell the date of conception, well some women tend to look much bigger, whereas some look small so i don't think this is a miscalculation

2nd time around you look bigger. If you are small to begin with, you may really look bigger! If your fundal height is 10 weeks (how your doctor mesured you) then I am sure he is in the ball park. This always can be different from a ultrasound though, they are slightly more accurate. But it definatly WONT be a 4 month difference, maybe a couple weeks! Good luck!!

Yes, they all show differently on the outside but the doctor is measuring their dimensions inside your body. They can be off a week or so one way or the other but really not much.
