The Americans still view anime as a cartoon, so they have strict censorship laws that ultimately alter the original story, context, and content of an anime. It does drive away the hardcore anime fans who know about this dirty dubbing, but there are plenty of newbies and fans that just don't CARE who watch dubbed versions. I remember when I got into anime, I loved Sailor Moon (I watched the dubbed version) and my first experience with an anime obsession came from Toonami's dubbed Gundam Wing. It was only when I became a true anime fan that I found out about the evils of dubbing (and now I don't watch ANY dub!)

I can't stand English dubbed Naruto. it kills it for me. the actors who do thier voice. How can I find orochimaru scary with that voice. I think that it just isn't anime if you watch in english. It takes away so much from the experience.

english dubs destroy the emotion and meaning to the whole anime... and this doesn't apply only to the naruto series but to other anime's as well.. japanese animation is better off without english dubs... that way, the meaning of the whole thing would be understood and appreciated by the viewers...^^... ja- ne!

i really dont like the american dubbed episodes.. i stick with the original japanese with subtitles because you read what their actually saying...
the american dubbed is dubbed clean so little kids will also watch, while in the japanese version they say a lot more bad words..
so its better to stick with the original..

not just the subs but parts of the story too. like in card captor sakura, touya developed a homosexual relationship with yukito but they cut that out in the american version. also sakura and tomoyo are cousins, they also cut that out.
