Dan Marino, his problem like many talented QB's like Dan Fouts is that his team had no defense, many games were won because of the many points Marino and his receivers made,I imagine by the time Peyton Manning retires,he will own every record in the books and will replace Marino as the best ever. But current is Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. By the time Manning and Brady retire they will be the best.

Hands Down... Montana... He had no equal... Young had Aikmen, Brady and Manning, Hell Montana was a thorn in Young (backup), Marino, Essiason, Sims, Elway, and Takenton's side for years... Did any other QB cause so much trouble for a bunch of Hall of Famers like Montana did?

Brett Favre, w/o question. The guy who wrote all of Marinos stats has a point. You can make up opinions, but you can't make up stats. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl with an amazing Buccanneers Defense, and no one is saying he is the greatest of all time. Super Bowls don't mean everything, just clutch.

On a postive note....no one said Tom Brady, that makes me very pleased.

Dan Marino

People never bring him up because of the "couldn't win the big one" stigma. It's unfortunate because the man owns majority of the major QB records in NFL History:

Most Attempts, Career: 8,358

Most Yards Passing, Career: 61,361

Most Touchdown Passes, Career: 420

Most Passing Yards, Season: 5,084 in 1984

Most Touchdown Passes, Season: 48

Most Games, 400 or more Yards Passing, Season: 4 in 1984

Most Games, 300 or more Yards Passing, Career: 60

Most Games, Four or more Touchdown Passes, Career: 21

Most Games, Four or more Touchdown Passes, Season: 6 in 1984

Lowest Percentage, Passes Intercepted, Rookie Season: 2.03 in 1983 (296-6)

Most Seasons Leading League, Attempts: 5 (1984, 1986, 1988, 1992, 1997)

Most Seasons Leading League, Completions: 6 (1984-86, 1988, 1992, 1997)

Most Seasons, 40 or more Touchdown Passes: 2 (1984, 1986)

100 TD Passes in Fewest Amount of Games to Start Career: 44 (9/7/86 at San Diego)

It's hard to say greatest because opinions vary. You can put a top few in the list. My closet guess to greatest would be Unitas. Elway has to be up there, too. Steven Young was the best I saw in my lifetime. He made some plays that I couldn't believe.
