i used to live in LA for 5 years and i drove there.., u guys said that LA has the crowded and worst driver coz they drive crazily..
actually its nothing compare to our drivers...
i bet u guys wont bet the indonesian drivers (and china too), such as me. haha..
indonesian are the best driver i think.. coz lots of public transportation drivers dont care about other cars, all they want is just collect lot of money from ppl who take the bus from the side of the road, they compete with each other, so we have to compete with the public transportation too (such as bus, mini bus, taxi, bajaj, etc), otherwise we will get behind, and have to wait for them.
the distance between each car could be 2cm.. and they can go like they dont care..
who drive and move faster, they'll win..
wanna take my lane? over my death car! hahaha..

ps: we also always say that american cant drive.. hehe.. (no offence), yes true, coz they say that american cant drive kamikaze style or zigzag.. and we do it very easily and fast..

I live here in Korea. A not-so-common joke I heard when in the military was -

"Drive safe, drive a tank."

It is probably caused by what is termed "Asia male pride."

In Asian countries, it is mentally painful for an Asian male to be embarrassed, especially in front of a foreigner.

Here in Korea, the male drivers honestly believe, with all their heart and sincerity, that Korean male drivers are the very best drivers in the world.

They constantly say foreigners, especially Americans, do not know how to drive. This is somewhat true on the reverse-side of the coin; Americans don't know how to drive Kamikaze-style.

Many immigrants have problems learning the "social rules" that go along with driving in this country.

So it's not limited to Asians but to anyone who doesn't have a lot of driving experience in this country.

I know that I'd be a HORRIBLE driver in the UK (driving on the wrong side of the road, having problems with roundabouts, etc.)

That's a stereotype...they drive about as well as white women and hispanics which according to stereotypical rules is horrible. I know you're not trying to be offensive but that question is just too general and not always true.

I don't know for sure but everytime I look over at them, they seem to be focused at what is about to hit their headlights (trying to avoid bugs, I guess!) instead of 50 to 100 metres in front of them. No defensive driving skills whatsoever!

Obviously I'm Asian, but I heard because we have smaller eyes; thus, we have peripheral vision, also we're too focused on trying to run stereotypes over. . . j/k
