if she refusues the DNA test then take her to court for a DNA test. It has to be done if the court orders it.
DO NOT sign the birth certificate!!! if you sign it then you have legal responsibilities to that child...what if its not yours, your should sign it until after the results from the DNA test.
If shes refusing to get a DNA test then it seems she has some doubts that the baby is yours.
if you know when she is due and when her last period was and a general idea of when you guys had sex i can try and help you figure out who has the higher chance of being the babies father, you or the other guy...just email me with the info and i'll be glad to help. just click on my little avitar and my email is in there.

well her doctor will be able to tell you how far along she is when they do the first ultrasound. Keep track of when you got together with her and when you had sex if you remember the dates. If you have only been together a few weeks she would be really early in her pregnancy so you might just have to wait it out for a while. As for specific DNA testing that wouldbe done after the baby is born and you can get a court order to get it done if she refuses. Good Luck

You have a legitimate concern. Talk some more with her. Ask her why it is she doesn't want to really know? It may be that she doesn't want to deal with the ex and regardless of who the real father might be, she would hope it would be you. By getting tested she may find out what she doesn't want to hear. So talk this over with her. She has many options, including asking the ex-bf if he wants to contribute financially. She can consider abortion, adoption, having the baby. Most states will REQUIRE the natural father to pay child support...even if he isn't living with the mother. So if she prefers you, and you prefer her, and you can deal with it, if the ex-bf is the father let him make the payments and you take care of her...if you're willing to act as the father. If the ex-bf doesn't want visitation rights (assuming he is the father and has to make payments), the kid will look upon you as the father. Lots of issues for you to think about...but I would insist on the test. Good luck.

if you have any reservation whatsoever, do NOT sign the birth certificate. Not to be mean but I work in the legal field and once you sign that birth certificate you are acknowledgin that you are the father. Get the DNA test done. Get a Court Order. Chances are that if you have only been together with a few weeks and she already knows she is pregnant, she probably already was.

A DNA test doesn't prove pregnancy, a DNA test proves paternity AFTER the pregnancy so of course she's not going to agree to having a DNA test now...

Did you use condoms when you had sex with her? My advice is to not have unprotected sex and insist upon a DNA test when the baby is born. Of course, you could encourage her to have an abortion, as it sounds like you may be getting set up to take bear the responsibility for another man's child.

Make sure you do it all legally and get a DNA test. If the child is yours do what is right and be the best father you can be.

I would ask for a DNA test too if you have only been with her for a few weeks.

It sounds to me like your relationship with this girl is over, and you will not be having any kind of a future with her. So I would assume that the only contact you would have with her would be if this child turns out to be yours, so I'll go with that for now...
You can retain an attorney and petition the courts for a paternity test. The ex-girlfriend would have to submit, by order of the courts, to that test. Unless she voluntarily submits to one, this is the only recourse you really have for now.
Best of luck.
