You don't need software. All you need is a good old fashioned TIMER. You know the one on your stove that you set for cooking. Or the white or yellow one that spins & ticks on the sink.
Set the time for a specific amount of time. When the time ends, your son must stop playing, regardless of where he is in the game. After stopping midway through an important area, he'll learn quickly to play the level through so he can get back on again another day.

Without having the account info, I'm not sure how you would go about limitting his play time other than timing him and telling him to get off of the game. I would suggest that you contact Blizzard's Support Team to see if there is anything that can be done so that you have access to those parental controls. As for a computer program that limits his access, I really don't know of any that would work that way. I wish I could be more help to you. Good luck!

Depends, are they playing it with all of their friends online? If you kick them out of the house and tell them to go play outside, in todays day and age you may find that all their friends are actually on WOW. It is interfering with schoolwork? One of the negative stigmas with videogaming is that it's a single player activity. With world of warcraft this is not the case. You teenage sons are actuall interacting with over 5 million other people online when they play, it's a very popular place to meet up with friends to "hang out" and to make new friends. If it truly is negativly impacting their lives and isn't just something that is bothering you then I would reccomind upgrading to Vista (If you haven't already) it has a feature that allows you to program when certain users can and can not be on the computer. So if you wanted one son to only be able to play from 1pm-2pm you could program that in and when 2 pm hit the comuter would simply shut down on him. Again, be careful what your reasons are for doing this becuase cutting him off may actually prevent him from interacting socially with his friends. Try and think about what the real issue is. Do you just feel like he should be outside more often for some reason or is it truly detremental to his life? Good luck.

If you can't find a program to help you, you can try this.
Take the WoW discs and hide them in a safe place. If you have XP, in Windows, set your child's user account to "limited" (make your user account an "administrator" with a password). Then just tell them that if they don't follow your WoW rules, you will uninstall the program. If they try to reinstall it after not listening to you, they can't install it because a "limited" user account prohibits the user from installing programs onto the PC.

man i'm glad i don't have a timer on the game i'm always doing instances aka dungens that take 3 hours to complete but use a kitchen timer though he'll probably giveu p on it if you set it for 1 hour to 2 hours since you can't do really any instance in a hour except the very low ones doesn't help if he's 59 like me (lvl i mean)

Disconnect his internet perminently until he agrees to comply. If he's wireless, then disable your wireless router. Just unplug it... or take his computer away perminently. It's either all or none at this point, I'm sure. If you really don't want to just take it away for good, then set it up in your 'territory' and make him have to come to you to play and kick him off when he's done... You could also try turning off the power to his room, that's what my boyfriend's parents did to him.

Well, why don't you change the password. Ask him the for the current password and go to the account management page on at Worldofwarcraft.com. He'd be forced to ask you to play and at that, once he logs off... he can't get back on! Hope I helped cure your son's addiction!

there is a few programs that will allow you to stop the game from starting up without a password so you can tell him to get off or not get it for 3 weeks and as you are the only one with the password you can do that. oh and please back up the file somewhere your son doesn't know about.

here is what u can do... U know the wire that is connected from ur internet service provider to your home pc?? Make an extension of that wire to ur bedroom and place a STRAIGHT CONNECTER(thing that is used to connect to wires) there before it goes to ur modem or directly to ur pc... and when u want ur kid to STOP playing World of warcraft, just disconnect it in ur bedroom.. its effective i tell u... my dad always do this to us and becoz of that we all started to sleep early again.. its effective promise
