You should try removing the electrodes from battery if they are dirty and clean them with sandpaper..(there is a special brush you can buy for a couple of bucks....

does your car stall and you can't get it to start because if that's the case it could be alternator...I would clean the electrodes first...then check if you need new battery...then the alternator

The trick is to plug a battery into the *** lighter socket in the previous eliminating or disconnecting the important battery. i exploit an old sealed motorcycle battery with a plug from a plug in map interpreting gentle. Your radio will opt to have the code reset, although that's in all danger to be the least of your issues./ The Battery ought to no longer want rechargng, if it did why disconnect it till you've a quickly charger. till you ran the battery down by technique of leaving the light fixtures on or something particular you want to envision the charging gadget, , commence the engine, change as many electric powered products on as you may and examine the Battery voltage, it might want to be round 14 volts at a quickly tickover, a cheap digital multimeter £ 5 from Maplin is particularly adequate for this attempt. if the voltage is decrease and is no longer gradually increasing, and the alternator pressure belt isn't slipping then possibilities are severe you want a sparkling alternator. If the voltage is okay and the battery is going flat, disconnect the earth cord and examine the battery drain with each and every thing switched off and the doorways closed ( interior gentle ) it might want to be below a million/4 amp, If more desirable examine why, if a lot less possibilities are severe you've a Duff Battery.

Got a battery charger? Put it on and leave it overnight. Does it start now? If so the battery is good. Get out your voltmeter with it running. If it reads around 14 volts the alternator is good, if not you just found your problem. If it doesn't start after being charged, replace the battery first, and then check the alternator. It's possible for both to fail.

Have you checked the water in the battery? The battery cables need to be cleaned as well. And how old is the battery? Depending on the make of the battery, it could last only a couple of years, depending on the make of the the car.

Good luck.

do not remove the battery cable with your car running. That was an old school trick for carburated engines, you can potentialy harm these computer controlled cars by doing this.

Seams as though a lot of basis were coverd, If you want to stop the battery corrosionjust tape a penny about a half inch from your post.

we had the same problem with our car it was a buick year '97. My brother put a system on it and the same thing happened to me i would just leave the radio on for a little while and my car would die on me. so people would recharge it all the time it was kinda getting old. they pretty much tried everything but I guess it was just the battery itself. It wasen't good anymore. You should really change it, before it leaves you stranded somewhere. It could be very dangerous. I think it will be worth it at the end. I know i wasen't that helpful but i really don't know anything about cars. I just think that to save urself some trouble try and buy yourself another one it could save you alot of headaches.

Well good luck : )

i just needed a new alternator. the mechanic said the battery could only hold so much power from a jump, then it would run out of power because the alt was not charging it. started w/a new starter, then an alt, then a battery all in a month. i think its auto zone store that does a free diagonstic test on your system. walmart did one on mine and it said it needed an alt. after i got one i still needed a battery. good luck to u

start your car, disconnect the negative battery wire, if car dies the alternator is bad. if it keeps running the battery is bad
