The general trend of the introduction of the Euro has forced a real decline in the dollar's strength. If a real economic crisis occured and American dollars no longer bought goods like they used to and American economic (not POLITICAL) prestiege plummeted around the world, would you consider giving up the dollar to move to the Amero? The Amero is a proposed joint currency between Canada and Mexico and is similar in theory to the Euro. If it meant that you would be better off financially to no longer see G. Washington on one dollar bills, but have something different, would you do it?

Yes, absolutely.

The problem is that the economies of Canada and Mexico are weaker than that of the USA, so we would get the shorter end of the stick and lose out on certain rights as a country. European nations have had to give up a number of rights, so that everyone in every country would have a similar set of basic rules to govern them. The UK, a participant in the EU, is not tied to the Euro. They had the strongest single economy in the region and decided not to allow countries with weaker economies (like Italy) to devalue their currency. The US is in a similar situation.

The only reason the dollar is depreciating is because we are spending 64% of the budget on the military, and we aren't going to get back a good return on the investment, as a country. Spending Iraq War dollars at home would do much to correct the problem. As it is, we are spreading wealth to foreign nations.

the decline in the dollars strength is because of deficit spending and national debt. People save euros because they believe that the euro will be worth more in the future than the dollar will. It makes sense. I would like to see a unified economy with Japan and Canada. Not Mexico because they have very poor infrastructure and worse political corruption than us.

They may have to do that since the dollar is already in decline. And the Great Dollar Crash is Expected.
