Well i have known a few girls that smoked pot during pregnancy and their daughters were born healthy.
I did not say anything for they were/are grown women and they know better and it isn't my buisness what anyone else does with their bodies.
Q. What About Pregnancy - Will Smoking Marijuana Hurt the Baby?
A. Doctors advise pregnant women not to use any drugs because they might harm the growing fetus. One animal study has linked marijuana use to loss of the fetus very early in pregnancy.
Some scientific studies have found that babies born to women who used marijuana during their pregnancy display altered responses to visual stimulation, increased tremors, and a high pitched cry, which may indicate problems with nervous system development. During pre- and early school years, marijuana-exposed children have been reported to have more behavioral problems and difficulties with sustained attention and memory than nonexposed children.
Researchers are not certain whether any effects of marijuana during pregnancy persist as the child grows up; however, because some parts of the brain continue to develop into adolescence, it is also possible that certain kinds of problems will become more evident as the child matures.

there grew to become into no info of unfavourable outcomes. people who evaluate that's does does not understand that what they pay attention is a central authority respond that were shoved down their throat for over 80 years. reality is weed is a certainly grown plant that aspects treatment powers (basically ask any cancer affected person or persons with persistent pains). Tobacco is grown, yet chemical ingredients are extra later. diverse drugs unlawful (cocaine, LSD, heroin, and a lot of others.) and criminal (which contains prenatal and folic acid that's used in being pregnant) contain any style of chemical ingredients which could reason start defects. There are mothers that took all steps fundamental of their being pregnant that had little ones born with defects and their are reckless mothers who smoke, drink and/or do drugs that have completely wholesome little ones. base line is it is not considerable what occurs, her infant will pop out the way the Lord meant and if there's a affliction, that's no technique to pinpoint what aspects it.

I don;t think that there are any studies showing how weed affects an unborn baby, but none the less, the person u know doing this is and idiot and is not responsible enough to have a baby. I gave up everything including cigarettes when i got pregnant and if your friend was smart, she would do the same thing

I would tell them to stop. I'm sure both you and your friend know that whatever you do, your child does. If you smoke weed, your child is smoking weed. As far as evidence, I read that smoking weed doesn't allow the baby to get as much oxygen. This decrease in oxygen causes the baby's growth to slow down. Babies that are smaller tend to have an increased risk of infection among many other things. So...definitely tell your friend to stop smoking weed. If a woman can not give up weed for their unborn child then they should not get pregnant to begin with.

Any doctor can tell you that smoking pot while pregnant is bad. I found out today that smoking cigarettes can cause miscarriage, low birth weight, birth defect, premature labor, and complicated labor. Can you imagine what something like pot could do? Here is some other things I pulled offline:
1.First of all, smoking anything during pregnancy deprives the fetus of oxygen. Just as smoking tobacco is discouraged in pregnant women, so is smoking marijuana. Smoking any type of substance interferes with the fetus's blood supply. This can mean the fetus doesn't get enough oxygen, and s/he may be born smaller in both weight and length. Smaller babies have a higher risk of other problems after birth, such as infections, severe jaundice, difficulty feeding, breathing problems, low blood sugar, difficulty regulating temperature, bleeding into the brain, and problems with vision.
Secondly, marijuana is frequently and unpredictably "cut" with other substances. So the fetus may be unintentionally exposed to other potentially harmful substances in addition to marijuana.
2. What happens when a pregnant woman smokes marijuana: Marijuana crosses the placenta to your baby. Marijuana, like cigarette smoke, contains toxins that keep your baby from getting the proper supply of oxygen that he or she needs to grow.
How can marijuana affect the unborn baby: Studies of marijuana in pregnancy are inconclusive because many women who smoke marijuana also use tobacco and alcohol. Smoking marijuana increases the levels of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the blood, which reduces the oxygen supply to the baby. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy can increase the chance of miscarriage, low birth-weight, premature births, developmental delays, and behavioral and learning problems.
What if I smoked marijuana before I knew I was pregnant: According to Dr. Richard S. Abram, author of Will it Hurt the Baby, "occasional use of marijuana during the first trimester is unlikely to cause birth defects." Once you are aware you are pregnant, you should stop smoking. Doing this will decrease the chance of harming your baby.
I'm sorry but I cant remember where I read this but smoking marijuana has also been linked to once-undetermined cases of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
I think you need to tell your friend that if she wants a healthy baby the best thing for her to do is stop smoking.
Good luck.

You know what I tell my friends is. No there hasn't been extensive studying done showing the negative effects of weed during pregnancy ........
But say something was wrong with the baby when he/she was born, that parent will never know if it was them or just a fluke. They probably will end up blaming themselves and wondering their whole lives.... what if what if......
Why risk it.
I stopped for my baby. I smoke for 5 years everyday and the second I knew I was pregnant ---DONE. It's my choice to smoke weed, but how can I make that decision for my baby too?
I am not sure I specifically targeted what you were asking, but you can juggle the words to make them your own.
Good luck.

Basically, anything that is harmful to you can potentially be harmful for a fetus. It's best to avoid alcohol, cigarettes and drugs during pregnancy because you just don't know how bad it could be until it's too late. Whoever this person is needs to stop and as a friend you should tell them so.

at the very least, it would be the same thing as cigarettes. those are bad because they take the oxygen away from the bloodstream and therefore the baby. it leads to underweight, and sometimes retarded babies. other than that- i'm sure it would be bad- just because the effects on the baby are the same as if a person did about 20 times more drugs. they are smaller and they get all f their needs from the mom. i know with hard drugs, the mom can kill the baby that way- have a stillborn one, it's probably the same as pot.

Babies whose mothers have used marijuana during pregnancy or while breastfeeding sometimes seem jittery and difficult to comfort. They may have some delay in the development of their motor skills, although this delay does not seem to be permanent.

I think it is absolutly appaling. It is not worth it, it is worse for the baby than smoking cigarettes. They do know that smoking pot has negative side effects on the baby. I know a girl that did smoke pot when she was pregnant, and her baby spend a bit of time in an incubator, it was a full term baby. I hope your friend will stop. But junkies will always be junkies no matter what the problems may be. They always make excuses and will never take responsibility, they are losers, and I hope they dont drag you down.
