I own an F1 Savannah, she is 75% Serval, the highest amount you can keep in a residence without a USDA license, most zoning won't allow them inside of city limits and only with the license outside of city limits (I'm referring to full blood servals) Expect to pay around 2500$ Make sure you buy from a cattery than can provide all the necessary FICA papers to prove blood line just like you would if you were buying a dog. Make sure the household/cattery is clean and it's even better if they have children as you know they will be gentle. They do have some nasty habits as any larger cat does and they do require being few raw chicken and other meats on a regular basis so they are more expensive to upkeep, if you want smaller but still full blood get a female. If you don't want to do the licensing but a Savannah but expect to pay upwards of 7500 or more for the higher blood line. I got mine from a local cattery in Louisiana but she's no longer in business. There is an on-line cattery directory that can help you locate a breeder by state. Mine (a female) is a little rough with my other two cats (just normal house cats) but she's never shown any overly aggressive tendencies. Keep in mind a full grown male can kill an unarmed human, so do your legal research and save up and enjoy.

I have never had one (nor do I know anyone that has them), but I have heard that they are the nicest of all of the wild cats. I have never heard anything bad about them. If you are looking to get one, you may want to consider a Savannah. They are a hybrid of a Serval and domestic cat, and they are usually not illegal to own. Savannahs have the look and size of a Serval, but they are much more manageable.

in the UK you'd have to have an exotic pets license to have one of those i think.
they have them in London Zoo and their heads look too small for their bodies! strange creatures they are.
